What is Skinny Bitch?
The Skinny Bitch is a vegan diet. The writers promise to be your "smart-mouthed girlfriends" that won't mince words about your weight problem. Former model agent Rory Freedman and former model Kim Barnouin recommend a low-fat, low-calorie, high-fiber diet that includes no meat, no dairy and don't even consider soda (diet or otherwise) which is described as "liquid Satan. If cursing is a problem, you probably won't reach for a book with this title anyway. If being told your habits give you things like "fat-pig syndrome" bothers you then this is another reason to avoid this book.
How does Skinny Bitch work?
Whole grains, vegetables and fresh fruits (preferably organic) can be eaten in abundance with no calorie counting required. But the list of foods you'll be forbidden to eat is long and the first chapter is appropriately titled "Give It Up." The no, nos include smoking, meat, dairy, most alcohol, artificial sweeteners and "coffee is for pussies." The writers offer good karma as a motivation to go vegan.
What does research say?
Research involving this specific diet could not be found but a 2007 study comparing a vegan diet to a low-cholesterol diet concluded more weight is lost on a vegan diet. Like most diets, the biggest challenge will be adherence.
